Helping Hands – Tia’s Treasures

A fundraising success is born out of friendship. Read all about how Tia’s Treasures began.

Tia’s Treasures began in the Summer of 2011 when Tia, who was 6 years old at the time was inspired by the Sassie Gems Beady Bar at the Peterhouse Primary School Fete. With a little help from her mummy, Lisa, Tia began to make hand made bracelets, necklaces, keyrings and bag charms.

Tia decided she wanted to sell her makes at a fundraising afternoon at the school which she attends. She wanted to raise money for her best friend, Demi, who has Retinoblastoma. Tia and Demi have been best friends since they met when they were in Nursery together. Demi has lost an eye to the Cancer and is partially sighted in her remaining eye but despite her battle since the age of 6 months old she remains happy and positive. Demi truly is an inspiration.

Tia was impressed with the amount raised at the fundraising afternoon as was her best friend Demi and her family. She decided to continue to fundraise and that is when Tia’s Treasures was born.

Tia’s Treasures First Fundraiser

Tia’s Treasures first fundraiser was held in July 2012 and raised over £300. Now seven years old, Tia has an admirable mission. Tia wants to create and sell enough pieces of Jewellery to be able to send a generous donation to two charities – CLIC Sargent and Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT UK). To date, she has raised £417.50 which we think is a fabulous amount.

As well as a variety of handmade Jewellery, Tia also has her own wristbands for sale, available in pink and blue. She continues to attend gift fairs and hold fundraisers. The latest fundraiser will be held on 28th October 2012, from 11am till 2pm, at Shrublands Youth and Adult Centre, Magdalen Way, Gorleston, Near Great Yarmouth. Do pop along if you are in the area.
