Beads Unlimited mail order department is usually awash with denim and trainers. Not so when staff dressed to impress and big chief Geoff served up a treat!
All dressed up
You may have imagined that being surrounded by beads, we’d all be dripping in jewellery on a daily basis. However, with the regular tasks of unpacking shipments, packing orders and generally keeping everything ship shape a more casual attire is how you’d normally find us. So, to inject a bit of glamour into our workplace we decided that a ‘Dress Up Friday’ would be both a great way to spend an afternoon and keep up the momentum on our RNLI fundraising.
Party time
Beads Unlimited became a hive of activity as hair was tousled, make up applied and party frocks were dusted off for the occasion. Kelly became chef and cooked up some delicacies for us all to enjoy. Okay, they were actually bought from the supermarket and just needed heating through but it’s the thought that counts!
Boss becomes butler
Big chief Geoff agreed to be waiter for the afternoon and serve Bucks Fizz and canapés. Entering into the spirit, he came suitably attired in a suit, complete with bow tie. We were treated to an hour or two of being waited on in our finery. A small disaster struck at about 5pm when an overzealous bottle of fizz emptied itself over the floor. Geoff admirably changed roles and became the office cleaner for a while!
More in the pot
All in all we had a great time and managed to raise over £40 to add to our fundraising pot, not bad for a couple of hours festivities. This brings our total so far to well over £7000, something we’re very excited about.
We’re on our way
We still have a way to go but we’re determined to make it to £10,000 by 5th March 2012. This is when our Silver Jubilee year officially comes to a close. To find out more about our fundraising activities for the RNLI, please visit our Giving page.
